Quarter 3 News (January 9th - March 16th)
In the middle school, there will be expanded offerings in art this quarter. There will be 6 different areas in art that will offered during elective periods Monday through Friday. On Wednesday, students can choose an art studio as an additional art class besides their elective art. The art classes are: drawing, painting, fiber art, printmaking, and 3-d art. Art studio will focus on using various mediums that will reflect a style of a master artist. students are choosing one or more art classes so it will will be exciting to see them immersed in many different processes.
The elementary grades will continue to focus on the principles of art as they create various pieces.By this 3rd quarter, the students should be able to be vary aware of incorporating lines, shapes, color, and texture into their work. Most grades will be working on a drawing for the 2012 Education Guide contest. The theme this year is "People helping People." The HCLA students should have many great and creative ideas for their drawings!
As usual, Lutheran Schools Week is a special time to celebrate our school through a display of art done by students in all the grades. Watch the newsletter for details so you won't miss this wonderful art exhibit.
