Quarter 3 News (January 9th - March 16th)

MATH I
Do you enjoy homemade cookies? Great! Students this quarter will be able to take any recipe and adjust it for the occasion. In order to change recipes, one only needs to use fractions. Cookies, cornbread and pizza are just a few of the goodies we will talk about this quarter.

Do you remember having to calculate the sales price for Christmas purchases? Now you will have help. In addition to adjusting recipes, students will be able to calculate sales prices and percentage discounts. OH! Go out to dinner. They can calculate the tip for you.

Next, we will change venues (no more food) and head toward construction. We will enter the world of Geometry. Do you need to calculate the angle for your stairwell? Do you need to build a bridge over your creek? Enlist the assistance of your student.

WOW! We have food and a building in which to cook. What could possibly be next??

PRE-ALGEBRA
After having am enjoyable Christmas vacation, we jump right into Algebra. The students have been solving two-step and multi-step equations. That is just to get our minds in gear. Towards the end of January, be ready to open a savings account for your student. He will be able to understand simple interest and will be able to know how much money to invest in order to save up for the latest iPad.

Next, we will enjoy analyzing data using graphs. Hey! This will help us with our Science Project! We will look at analyzing data from different types of graphs and why we would use each.
