2010 - 2011 Quarter 1: August 16th - October 15th

5th Grade and Course I Math will concentrate on review and strengthening basic multiplication and division skills.  Your child will have a short skills quiz every morning before class starts.  If your student passes, a new level will be given until mastery of skills is reached.  Start reviewing now!!  I believe this will help all students with the upcoming lessons and into the future.

5th Grade:  Quarter One Units include place value, decimals, and division and multiplication review

Course I:  Quarter one Units include Decimal skills, Graphs/Sampling, and Fractions.
Course II:  Quarter One Units include Decimals/Integers, Equations/Inequalities, and Exponents/Factors/Fractions.
Pre-Algebra:  Quarter One Units include Algebraic Expressions,One Step Equations,Decimals, and Factors/Fractions/Exponents

All Math classes will focus on improving skills in note taking and organizing Math materials.  Notes will be collected for specified chapters and given a grade.

Calculator for our use is the TI 34 II, TI 34 Multiview, or a comparable  calculator suitable for Middle School Math. Calculator use will be regulated by me, and will be for specific assignments only, not for general use.  Please label it and store it in my classroom if desired.
