Quarter 3 News (January 9th - March 16th)
5th Grade - American History
After wrapping up our studies of the 13 colonies, we will turn our attentions to the American Revolution. Students will gain a clear understanding of why we went to war, how we won the war, and how we became a nation. This is going to be a fun, interesting unit where students will have the opportunity to do lots of exciting, hands-on act activities.
6th Grade - World History
We begin this quarter studying the history of the Muslim faith and the Islamic Empire. After that we will take a quick survey of Africa and Asian civilizations. Studying the entirety of World History from early man to modern day is a tall task. For the sake of time, these two chapters will mainly be quick surveys and independent studies for the students. We will then take a closer, more thorough look at Civilizations in the Americas, and Chinese dynasties.
7th Grade - Geography
This quarter we are picking up right where we left off, Europe. A big part of this quarter’s grade is the European Country project. Our presentations will take place February 15-17. It’s going to be a great few days of interesting presentations and delicious food! Our next stop on our journey around the world will be Northern Africa. After our studies, students will be able to better understand the history and significance of this past year’s current events in this part of the world.
8th Grade - American History
For the third quarter we are beginning are studies where few history classes have gone before: THE 2OTH CENTURY! The beauty of beginning our historical studies with the Civil War is being able to spend an amble amount of our time during the second half of this year learning and analyzing American politics and society in the 20th Century. During this third quarter we will be concentrating on the time period of the two World Wars. Not only will we be discussing and analyzing the wars but the Roaring Twenties and the Great Depression.
